MuSeC in Florence, Uffizi Gallery

During the morning, MuSeC will study the case of the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. The Uffizi Gallery is one of the most famous museums of paintings and sculpture in the world. Its collection of Primitive and Renaissance paintings comprises several universally acclaimed masterpieces of all time, including works by Giotto, Piero della Francesca, Botticelli, Mantegna, Leonardo da Vinci,  Raffaello, Michelangelo and Caravaggio, Dürer, Rembrandt and Rubens.

The Uffizi Gallery occupies the top floor of the large building erected by Giorgio Vasari between 1560 and 1580. The Gallery was created by Grand-duke Francesco I and subsequently enriched by various members of the Medici family, who were great collectors of paintings, sculpture and works of art.

MuSeC in Florence, Degli Innocenti Museum

Degli Innocenti Institute has been working for centuries to protect families and children. In the first half of the XV century, when it was built, it was the first institution that was exclusively dedicated to children assistance.

Nowadays, the Institute is located in the centre of Florence, in the historical building of the Spedale designed by Brunelleschi. The Spedale is a marvellous example of Renaissance architecture.
